Assiniboine/Gros Ventre War Shirt 52" cuff to cuff x 26" long. Beautifully beaded strips in geometric patterns, accented with a beaded and fringed bib. A beautiful, beaded war shirt from the central Montana area. These tribes settled in areas near Fort Belknap and Fort Peck. These shirts were created for special occasions such as annual Native celebrations or sacred ceremonies like the Sun Dance. Circa 1885. $35,000-45,000 Beadwork is excellent. Hide is soft and supple, showing only very minor discoloration due to age. Excellent condition considering age.
