Charles Russell Signed Book
The Sea-Wolf by Jack London, signed on the first page by C.M. Russell.
First edition, published October 1904.
As the story goes from a previous owner of the book: "I had an aunt in Great Falls whose cousin spent his life in Wolf Creek. But he was born and raised in Great Falls, a block or two from Charlie Russell's house and studio. When he was seven or eight years old, by which time he realized that Russell was a famous man, he grabbed a book of the family bookshelf - it happened to be a first edition of Jack London's "The Sea-Wolf" - and he ran up the street to Russell's studio and asked him to sign the book. Russell rarely signed books, even his own, and he also did not like to be disturbed in his studio. But he had a great fondness for children so he obliged my aunt's cousin and signed the book."
