Navajo Blanket
5' x 5'9" finely woven Germantown 3rd Phase Chief's blanket. Woven from 4-ply Germantown yarns in colors of red, black, ivory and bluish-purple. Germantown yarns were expensive at this time, so more than likely it was the trader who supplied it only to his best weavers. The nine diamond motifs are all done in the stepped layout design. The blanket is very nicely balanced and is in excellent condition. Circa 1890.
