Ralph DeCamp (1858-1936) Teepee 16" x 24" oil on canvas Signed lower right $8,000-12,000 Provenance: Private Collection, Novato, CA. Ralph DeCamp was a notable American painter whose works captured the rugged beauty and diverse landscapes of the American West. Born in Attica, New York, DeCamp moved westward as a young man, eventually settling in Montana in the 1890s, where he became closely associated with the region’s artistic legacy. DeCamp’s art is characterized by its meticulous attention to detail and its ability to convey the vastness and grandeur of Western landscapes. He was particularly skilled at depicting the changing light and atmospheric effects on Montana’s prairies, mountains, and rivers, which earned him recognition as one of the state’s pre-eminent early painters.
