Sioux Quilled Hide Robe 72" x 60". Red, yellow and white quillwork on buffalo calf hide, accented with red tufts and quilled drops terminating in carved hoof pieces. Circa 1860. $8,000-12,000 Provenance: Ex. Frederic Remington Museum from Summerhayes Collection, Ogdensburg, NY; Keno Brothers Auction, NYC, 2012; Current owner.
Condition
Quillwork is excellent overall, still bright and no breakage. Some red tufts missing long with a couple of hoof pieces, hide is slightly discolored. Overall great condition considering age.
